Our Mandate

Our Vision
LOOCIP aspires to see a socio-economically transformed and sustainable Longido Community.

LOOCIP is achieving its vision through best practices in leadership and human/gender rights advocacy, education development, health, sustainable livelihoods and environmental and natural resources management. It has adequate technical capacity at programme level to undertake its strategic plans but remains handicapped by lack of adequate financial resources to implement the envisioned programs and sufficiently cover the operational costs integral to quality programmes.

Our Mission
To oversee holistic, transformational and sustainable development of the Longido community through best practices in leadership, education, health, livelihoods and natural resources management, within a supportive human and gender rights environment.

Our Strategic Objectives

  • To build the capacity of the Longido communities in order to improve their leadership, advocacy, education development, livelihood quality and sustainability, health management , natural resource management, and access to modern technology.
  • To strengthen innovative sustainable livelihood options (e.g. exploitation of locally available resources minerals, wildlife and natural land features attractions)
  • To spearhead the development and maintenance of adequate education and health management infrastructure in the target communities
  • To advocate for and facilitate the development of adequate and clean water supplies for the 32 villages of Longido district
  • To establish modern communication systems through rural -based internet services and management of information systems (MIS) for local community institutions.
  • To advocate for the review, improvement and development of appropriate policies and laws to support a conducive environment for pastoralists livelihoods.
  • To network with local and international volunteers with appropriate skills and resources that can help bring positive development changes in the target community.
  • To build capacity for monitoring and evaluation of community development initiatives that enhances growth and further learning, through research and information sharing.

LOOCIP is in the process of developing a 3 Year Strategic Plan 2008-2011, scaling up its policies and systems and evaluating its constitution. We believe that after enhancing our capacity and resources, we will facilitate rapid development of our target communities, building on the progress and incredible work completed so far.
